Now that YouTube Premium users have access to the lab, they may take advantage of a number of new experimental features. The good news is that you can enjoy it all for free.
YouTube has revealed that users can choose to use several features simultaneously rather than just one experiment. Additionally, subscribers get access to five new choices:
- You can now enjoy high-quality 256kbps audio on music videos.
- Fans of YouTube Shorts on an iPhone can now use picture-in-picture while watching the videos to browse other apps or check messages.
- Recommended Shorts will also be selected and automatically downloaded for offline viewing on an iPhone.
- Coming “soon” is the ability to watch videos at 4x speed on mobile devices. Previously, the fastest playback speed was 2x.
- When viewing videos on the web, you can now skip ahead to the best part of the video. That option was previously only available on mobile devices.
YouTube Premium subscribers can visit YouTube.com/new to get all of the experimental features. The monthly cost of a YouTube Premium subscription is $13.99. Selecting an annual plan can result in cost savings. Discounts are also offered for student or family plans. Additionally, Google revealed that it is launching a new promotion that will allow you to save money on YouTube Premium when you buy it with a Google One Premium plan or above.
It is good to see Google incorporating helpful features into YouTube Premium without charging extra, even while competing subscription services appear to be increasing their fees virtually every day.
If YouTube is your thing, you might want to think about getting a Premium subscription. One of its greatest benefits is that it eliminates all video ads, which is a big plus. Nevertheless, there may be some circumstances in which Premium is not worth the additional money.
